About the event

Join us for a guided tour of Downtown Transcona and explore the rich heritage of this vibrant community. The tour highlights over 30 buildings and sites, each with its own unique story to tell. We will walk along the streets of Regent Avenue West, Victoria Avenue, Bond Street, and Day Street.

The tour is approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes. The tour starts and ends at the Transcona Museum (141 Regent Avenue West).

The tours wind through Downtown Transcona, along sidewalks, alleyways, and parking lots. Pavement and gravel may be uneven. We cross streets that do not have lights or signals to stop traffic. There are a few benches along the tour. The main street in Transcona is busy and loud at times. The tour will be delivered in English.

The Transcona Museum is located on ancestral lands, on Treaty One Territory. These lands are the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. Our drinking water is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. We respect the Treaties made on these territories, acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

The Transcona Museum gratefully acknowledges the City of Winnipeg's ongoing support of museum operations and facility maintenance.
